Way to leave us hanging at the end, excellent. That was a great episode man. Glad it got longer and can't wait for episode 5.

Those long downshifts remind me the the Sebring Glory Days.

    Way Cool

  • Patrick wrote on July 2, 3:20 pm

I'm practicing heal/toe downshifting now. I could shave off a ton of time with that alone. I am practicing whenever I take the car out, I try to heal toe any time I'm using the brake pedal. It's hard to do in the C6 because you really can't tell what RPM you are at since the car is so quiet. Should be much easier on the DC Z. I don't even need to look at the tach. I've locked up the rear tires many times on a downshift in the brake zones... I'd like for that not to happen any more!

That track looked like fun, nice run.
    Looking forward to Wyoming!!

  • supramike wrote on July 3, 12:37 am

sorry that was for episode 3, anyways it seems to me like ur a lil afraid of ur vette, u need to get ova it man, ur a grwon ass dude on a track for that matter, ur not street racing where other variable's make it more difficult to push ur ride to it full potental, so come on......... first ur letting of the gas entirely too soon before u make turn, ur also not down shifting the right way or at the right time, if u did it right u dont even need the break........ and u need to hold out a lil longer before u up shift......i mean how long have u had ur ride for??????well.....it seemz like i'm only saying negative things, but thats cuz erryone else just seemz to say the same old thing, u r doing a good job but i think u could do better if u stop being a pussy. lol.

  • Patrick wrote on July 3, 5:49 am

    SuperMike,

Thank you for the critique. What was your car number at One Lap? And, What lap times did you turn at Mid America Motorplex? Oh wait... I didn't see you there. You see, of the 300 million Americans, only 87 had the balls to get in the game. Not everyone has the guts to play with the big dogs, so don't feel small or too bad about it. Maybe your destiny is just to watch from the sidelines and comment. :)

  • nd4spd wrote on July 3, 8:45 am

Love the longer episode and some good track video. Especially the teaser at the end for next weeks preview. Great job guys!!

  • Zach wrote on July 3, 7:14 pm

    Patric,

I gotta say you are doing and not saying. You have comprised a awesome video and its only half done. Well done. I have raced at Mid America and know some things you could have done better. Duh, so do you. Its ridiculous to critique when you only get a practice lap, wet track, nerves from competing, etc. You did awesome, hope to be there next year.

  • 97vetteman wrote on July 4, 5:28 am

Excellent episode Patrick, it did seem like your were holding back abit on the track but somtimes the secret is to be smooth rather than flatout everywhere.

Better to be smooth and finish 25th then all out and finish up on the grass!

I havn't taken my Vette to a race circuit but I have done track days with a couple of sportsbikes and you alwyas hold a bit back when it's your own ride and you need it to get you home! Or the next event in your case.

Good stuff Patrick looking forward to next weeks episode.

  • Lynn wrote on July 4, 8:14 am

OMG! If I could only start EVERYDAY sipping my morning coffee and listen to the rumble of Corvettes... I'd be in HEAVEN! Thanks for the ride! I'm heading to my garage now.........

  • Tom Glover wrote on July 4, 10:00 am

I agree that the longer takes are better. I also agree with supramike, don't let up on the gas so soon, use the brakes more and power into the turns. Also, power up out of the apex sooner.

  • supramike wrote on July 4, 8:39 pm

hahahahah Pat, Pat, Pat.....track racing is not my style, i'm a street racer cant aford to go to the track + i dont have the time........ but if u wanna talk about having balls....try toping ur ride out on the streets and not getting killed or killing others in the process, i wasnt really knocking u, i just have a hard time watching other "racers" not doing their best or for that matter pushing their ride to its full potential especially on a track, where the danger of getting killed or killing someone is greatly reduced, anyways i just happend to c a couple of points where u werent doing so well , and taught i'd point em out to u thats all. oh and thanx.......Tom Glover

  • fkumro wrote on July 5, 10:42 am

    supramike,

Don't mix up balls and stupidity...

  • supramike wrote on July 5, 4:06 pm

call it what u want fkumro....... i do know not erryone has the balls to do something "stupid" like that, pretty much on the daily, and not get killed

  • tightss wrote on July 5, 10:04 pm

Loved all the footage on the track. At first I would wonder why your line wasn't more aggressive thru the turns, but I realized three things, the turns were much longer than I thought, I have less experience than you, and I could only see thru the eyes of the camera. That made it very difficult to criticize. Awesome job.

It would also have been neat if you had HUD and we could see how fast you were going at different points throughout the track. Also maybe a wider angle lens or something would be cool too.

thankyou for doing this. So cool.

  • Patrick wrote on July 5, 10:30 pm

SuperMike, I've been drag racing for 22 years. At the drag strip, and on the street. The fastest I've been on the street, is 181 mph, last year. Barely saved the car, almost died. Hardly bragging, it was stupidity. I'm 100% track now for any type of racing or exhibition.

My future is taking the checkered flag sideways while the 2nd place car is pushing on my car's ass. Your future is wearing an orange prison jumpsuit while some guy with tattoos is pushing on your ass. LOL.

There is no future in street racing man. That said, if I paid for you to come out to a wicked road course and let you beat the living shit out of my Z06 all day long ... would you come and take the keys?

I'd like to have you out as my guest. Bring a friend who also street races. I'm serious. Send an e-mail to patrick@digitalcorvettes.com and you'll be on a future episode of Vette Dogs. -Patrick :)

    Patrick,

Awesome!!!! Simply AWESOME! I would have been filmed right next to the beer cooler if I had to watch a tornado going over me with my vette parked outside!!!!

Placing 25th with the pros on a wet road course is COOL!

Look forward to the next episode..!

  • fkumro wrote on July 6, 9:31 am

damn Patrick you really are a vette dog. Inviting another man who you don't know to take your beast around the track. Props

  • Richard wrote on July 6, 3:44 pm

I watched your video on the blue 03 corvette going around some race track/ my goodness in results said he finished 25th out of 87 I guess it was lap times?... he ran the wrong lines, barked very earley, very early coasted in the corners and was in the wrong gear and lifted way to earley.
I guess first place was not lifting way before nessary, what is the purpose of this?

  • Patrick wrote on July 6, 5:37 pm

Richard, it's not a "how to road race video". It's a reality show about Corvette guys trying new things. Even things we suck at. We know we suck, and we are ok with it. But, thanks for the lashing. We'll only get better. -Patrick

  • marty43 wrote on July 6, 8:17 pm

Love the videos, this is how cars are meant to be driven! Props to using Michael Hedges' music as well.

  • raidmagic wrote on July 6, 8:37 pm

Hey all you guys bashing Patrick, feel free to submit your road racing videos for everyone to see. Make sure when you do it though that it's on a track that you have never seen before and tape the first 3 laps you ever drive on said track. Now quit running your mouths and start sharing your videos.

hahahah very funny pat, i'm neva gonna go to jail, i have neva been arrested or pulled ova, call it luck or God watching out for my "stupidity" but hopefully it says that way, i can totally c y u would quit street racing after almost dying, lol, and as for the offer.....oh man, feels like a dream right about now, but it comes at such a bad time in my life, and it's totally not possible to make it happen, i hope the offer is still open when everythings in order for it to be possible, i've always prayed for something like this to happen, and i knew if it did something would make it so it wasnt possible, cant give u any details, but i will say its not troble with the law, lol, it's just not something that can be helped, at least not right now, but like i said i hope the offer is still open when it is possible for me to make the trip.

  • supramike wrote on July 9, 8:50 pm

u know what, i'm reading some of this stuff and i guess it does sound like some of us r bashing....... but let me just say that thats not what i'm about, firstly i figured u've been doing this for a while, so at least u knew what u were doing, now c'n as thats not the case, i think its even better that the ones "bashing" r "bashing" cuz {a} thats gonna make u wanna shut as up by doing better, lol and {b} for the most part the ones that r "bashing" seem to be telling u what they/we c u doing wrong....and how could that be bad right???? thats only gonna make u better faster, cuz there maybe something ur doing wrong that ur dont notice, isnt track racing about learning from ur mistakes so u can do better????? i think its a good thing if we're pointing out the things ur doing wrond especially if this is new to u, cant do anything thing but help u be better right????

  • CharlesM wrote on July 9, 8:59 pm

Patrick, enjoyed the videos, esp 4, and the comments. In our neck of the woods, there's a saying that "Those that can, do, ...those that can't, criticize." As for SuperMouth, uh, SupraMike, his boast that he has never been arrested just means that he is one day closer to the inevitable. I couldn't care less if he wraps himself around a tree at 150+, but to put innocent people at risk is the utmost in stupidity and arrogance.

    Episode 5 FTW!!! Cmon!!2007

  • arnie wrote on July 13, 11:14 am

first let me say, street racing is stupid! those bashing Patrick seem to not realize that those same tires will be used at the track event later that day and tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that and oh yea, about 3000 highway miles. for the first time out, considering his track experience, Patrick did a great job.

  • supramike wrote on July 13, 8:05 pm

oh shut up arnie, {and every one else, for that matter} what, u gonna lick his balls 2????? jeezzzz, grow a pair, whats wrong with u guys???? i taught there were other racers on here, street racers or other wise, at lest car guys that r into speed { doesnt it bugg u at least just a bit to watch some one not perform to their best??? well it bothers me, it makes me go y the f88k does he own that car??? and i'm alwasy one to put in my 2 cents on how someone can improve}..... yeah he did g good job for the first time out, no ones disputing that, some of u just think he could have done better, i hate that everyone's on this we're bashing him bullshit, we're giving feed back, we just didnt suger coat it, cuz he's no baby, if he's any kinda racer, he'll take the "bullshit" we're throughing at him, and apply it.......then ya'll can watch the differece. { and like i said before some of us, namely me, didnt know this was new to him, that was y i was so blunt} anyways pat if u dont want us to call out things we c u doing wrong just say so and , i personally will vent in my house, and just watch on as u dont grow in ur driving/racing skill. sorry, for the harsh words. jusst seem'd like it had to be done, so erryones clear.

  • supramike wrote on July 13, 8:07 pm

soem of us not some of u, lol

  • fkumro wrote on July 14, 1:18 pm

Supramike does have some valid points, but this argument can go on all day long. Each person has their own definition of bashing, each person interprets the English language differently so lets just end it here.

Constructive criticism is expected with material like this site, so I expect more to come and maybe some of us can learn from it. I personally don't know shit about road racing or drag racing a high horsepower car (in still in 4banger land NA). I'm looking to learn...

  • Patrick wrote on July 14, 6:27 pm

I was trained by Jeff Gordon! LOL... seriously guys.. don't take Vette Dogs as "how to drive" or even "how to drive great.
" It's about non-waxers who play with their toys. That's really the whole thing. And, Patrick likes to do things the hard way... and do things he is utterly unqualified for... like the one lap of america... the tough stuff. that's how I roll. ;)

  • 75GlassShark wrote on July 15, 8:34 am

    Supramike,
If you would have joined DigitalCorvettes, you would have read the post where he said he wasn't too great. He is not professional and realized he needs to get better. he admitted that, but yet you still try to tell him he sucks at driving. Most of us are his friends on DC, so you can see why we would stick up for him, let alone understand where he is coming from. Quit being a douche and let it go man. He knows what he did wrong and said what he needed to do to fix it. Technique and practice. You also must be one of those stupid ricers. 2points for my assumption: 1 You put innocent people in danger when you race. If I street race I do it on empty back roads that we set up. If I run 130 or 140 I do it on the interstate at like 3 in the morning when nobody is out. Point #2 is you criticize somebody, he tells you he'll pay for everything and give you the keys to HIS car and you can't do it. Every ricer has an excuse everytime they are confronted like that. Now how about this. Let's turn the attitude around on here. This guy is driving the shit out his corvette unlike most guys. We should be embracing this and tuning in for the next episode. Your points have been made so let them go.

    Cheers,
    Josh
